Writing, Math, and Spanish Clinics

The Writing and Math Clinics, staffed by peer tutors and professional tutors, are free and no appointment is needed. Students are encouraged to attend the clinics as a proactive step to succeeding in a course or at the first sign of a problem, such as a low grade or lack of understanding.

The role of the tutor is to coach and stimulate students, not correct or complete assignments for them. Tutors help learners gain an understanding of the material, supporting them as they develop as scholars.

The Writing Clinic assists students with the full range of
writing issues including grammar, punctuation, source citation, paper organization, thesis statement development and the Castleton Writing Standards. Students are encouraged to bring in multiple drafts of papers for coaching and improvement.
