Castleton / Keene State College 2 + 2 Chemistry Program
Castleton State College, in conjunction with Keene State College (NH) offers a 2 + 2
Chemistry Program leading to a B.A. in Chemistry or a B.S. in Chemistry. The first
two years are taken at Castleton and lead to an Associate in Arts in Chemistry (AA.
CHE). The remaining two years are taken at Keene State College for the completion
of the B.A. or B.S. in Chemistry.
For GUARANTEED admission to Keene State College’s chemistry program, the
student must:
1. Complete the requirements for the Associate in Arts in Chemistry at Castleton
State College. Courses must include: CHE 1031, CHE 1032, CHE 2111, CHE
2112, CHE 3010 or CHE 3020, PHY 2110, PHY 2210, MAT 1531 and MAT 2021.
MAT 2532 (Calculus II) is recommended for students interested in the BA or B.S.
in Chemistry.
2. Complete a minimum of 6 courses at Castleton that will meet the general education
requirements at Keene State College. Consult the program advisor for a list of
Castleton courses that will fulfill this requirement.
3. Maintain a minimum of 3.0 GPA in courses required for the Associate’s degree in
Chemistry at Castleton. The student must receive a “C” or better in all courses to
be transferred to Keene State College.
NOTE: Students not meeting all of these requirements may still be accepted into the Chemistry program at Keene State College under a conditional status.
