He dedicated his life to helping others. Gerry was a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a grandfather, a coach, a teacher, a friend, and an inspiration to all who met him. While Gerry was only at Castleton for a few years, he affected numerous lives of both students and those who work at the college. Castleton will never forget Officer Gerry Kilduff.
"Gerry Kilduff touched my life. We were fortunate to have Gerry as a Public Safety Officer at Castleton State College. Gerry improved all of our attitudes by always being positive. Personally, I will strive to use Gerry's example to find as much joy in my life as I possibly can." -Jim Fuller, director of Public Safety from 2002 to 2005.
"Gerry was one of those unique human beings that you could meet once in your life and you would probably never forget him. Gerry had a gift when interacting with people. He could strike up a conversation anywhere, anytime, with anyone. He knew the names of so many students. He also took the time to know the students, and to find out what their interests and backgrounds were. It was amazing to watch. He always asked people what they were doing, what their goals were, and gave them advice on getting there. Even when he was not working because of his illness the past year, students would ask where Gerry was and how he was doing. Gerry was also always encouraging me in regards to my career path, and gave me advice about working in this field. I will never forget his wisdom and his support. He taught me more than he will ever know. Wherever my career path leads, I will always remember Gerry's words of wisdom and humor. I am blessed and thankful to have known him." - Former Public Safety Officer Rebecca Towne
"Gerry was the kind of individual that others aspire to be. He was a light-hearted gentleman full of wisdom and spirit. Regardless of the situation, Gerry never let things bring him down or break his positive attitude. He encouraged others to see the positive in situations and people. Gerry also had an amazing gift for communication. He could walk up to anyone and start a conversation and before long, know details about one's dreams and aspirations. Something about Gerry's disposition made others feel at ease and encouraged them to confide in him. I may have only known Gerry for a brief time, but the impression he left upon me will last forever." - Former Castleton employee Melinda Piper
