Castleton Theater Department presented Spoon River Anthology, based on a selection from Edgar Lee Masters' classic book of free verse poems, September 16-19, 2004.

Meet several members of tiny Spoon River, and learn of the town and lifestyle through stories told by inhabitants of the local graveyard. Stories are touching, funny, thought-provoking, shocking, and always insightful.

Spoon River Anthology was published in 1916 and remains a literary classic. Although the fictional Spoon River is in Illinois, Vermonters may see something of their own history in the work.

The Irish band Extra Stout provided music.
