Welcome to Castleton State College Athletics. It is an exciting time to be a Spartan! Castleton is affiliated nationally with the NCAA Division III, and is a member of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) and the Eastern Collegiate Athletics Conference (ECAC). With 20 varsity sports, a full slate of intramural sports, and many club sports to choose from, there are countless opportunities to compete on several different levels.
Field Hockey Tops NAC Preseason Poll
(September 4, 2008) - Castleton State College has been chosen to finish at the top of the 2008 conference field hockey standings in a vote by the league’s coaches. The Spartans have a full squad returning including five seniors who earned all-conference recognition last season. The Castleton attack will be led by Kayla Blank and Carolyn Griggs, both first-team all-conference selections a season ago. (Full Article)
Men's Soccer Picked to Defend NAC Title in Preseason Poll
(September 4, 2008) - Castleton State College has been chosen the preseason favorite to win the NAC men’s soccer title in a vote conducted by the league’s coaches. The Spartans return nine starters from a team that went 6-1-1 in conference play. Castleton will be led by the 2007 NAC Player of the Year Ryan Hahn. Anchoring the defense will be first team all-conference selection senior goalkeeper Mike Anthony. (Full Article)
Women's Soccer Picked Second in NAC Preseason Poll

Two time defending NAC Champion Husson University was chosen as the league’s early favorite in a poll by the conference coaches. The Eagles, who collected five first place votes and 60 points, return 10 starters off of a squad that went 9-1 in conference play. The Eagles will be led in goal by senior all-conference honoree Tatyana Wolterbeek, who between the pipes last season, allowed just four goals in 10 conference contests. (Full Article)
Women's Volleyball Picked Fifth in NAC Preseason Poll

The NAC women’s volleyball coaches have selected the Husson University as the favorite to win the conference championship. The Eagles, who finished 7-1 in the league last year, return two-time first team all-conference member Allison Chepke. Husson received six first place votes and 47 points to lead all teams. Castleton Earns Spot on IWLCA Academic List
(August 18, 2008) - The Castleton State College women's lacrosse team was recognized by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as an "Academic Squad" for achieving a team grade point average above 3.0. The IWLCA recognized 56 teams and 172 individuals in NCAA Division III women's lacrosse. (Full Article)
