Spartans will take on New Jersey City University November 10

The Castleton State College men's soccer team earned its second trip in four years to the NCAA Division III National Tournament by earning the automatic bid that comes with winning the North Atlantic Conference. The Spartans will take on the New Jersey City University Gothic Knights on Saturday, November 10.
The New York University Violets earned an at-large invitation and will host the first and second rounds on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 10 and 11, at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, NJ.
Castleton's (13-7-1) first-round opponent will be New Jersey City University (16-4-1), the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament runner-up, on Saturday. The winner of that matchup will face the winner of the other first-round game between NYU (13-4-1), and Hamilton (9-4-3, the Liberty League champion, on Sunday.
Times for the first and second-round games have yet to be determined.
The Spartan offense is led by North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Player of the Year, Ryan Hahn (Benson, VT/Fair Haven Union). Hahn has tallied eight goals and five assists, and was also named the most valuable player of the NAC tournament after scoring the game-winning goal in the championship.
Goalkeeper, Mike Anthony (Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth) has allowed just 16 goals in 17 starts, earning an 11-5-1 mark on the season with six shut-outs.
Anthony joined brothers Ryan and Ben Hahn as members of the All-Conference First Team, while Head Coach John Werner earned his second Coach of the Year award. Earning All-NAC Second Team honors was sophomore back, Jerry DeChance (Valatie, NY), while classmate Nick Bellizzi (Montgomery, NJ) earned honorable mention.
Nine of Castleton’s 13 wins were by just one goal, and the team played in six overtime periods in five games.
Castleton has won three out of the last five NAC Championships, the Spartans last made the national tournament in 2004, when the team won a school-record 15 games.
