Women's cross country finishes 14th out of 21 teams, Men 16th out of 18

Boston, MA-At Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts Stonehill College swept both the men's 8K and women's 5K events. Castleton went up against some of the top competition in New England and produced several personal bests. The women's team finished 14th out of 21 teams competing while the men wound up 16th out of 18 teams competing.

MEN: Castleton was led by Chris Gatchell (Waterford, ME/Oxford Hills Comprehensive) who finished 47th with a time of 27:28. Freshman, Michael Sullivan (Granby, CT/Granby Memorial) finished second for the Spartans in 79th place running the 8K in 28:47.

WOMEN: Freshman Elizabeth Halnon (Blackstone, MA/Blackstone-Millville) continues to lead the Spartan women, as she finished the 5K race in a personal best 21:05, good enough for 52nd place. Katie Sprowl (Rochester, NH/Dover) gutted through dehydration to finish 60thin 21:37.

Both teams will be participating in the Vermont State Meet on Saturday, September 30 hosted by St. Michael's College. The event kicks off with the women's 5K at 11:00 AM.
