Castleton finishes 6th in men's, 3rd in womens at Western New England Invitational

Springfield, MA – The Castleton State College cross country team traveled to Springfield, Massachusetts to compete in the Western new England College Invitational. The Spartan men took home sixth place overall in the men's 8K, while the women wound up third in the 5K

WOMEN: Western New England senior Kaylee Martin took the top honors in today’s WNEC Invitational helping her team to a 4th place finish overall (116 points) out of twelve teams and 105 runners competing. Martin was the only female runner to break 20 minutes today with the winning time of 19:54, which was also a course record. Clark University took home top team honors with 57 total points. Castleton's Sage Small led the team with a 21:21, good enough for eighth position. Katie Snyder ended up 11th, running the 5K in 21:35.

MEN: American International College freshman Creig Levens ran away with top honors racing the 8,000-meter course in 27:11. Five Engineers finished in the top ten to take the team championship for WPI with a remarkable 28 points. Michael Campbell was the top Castleton runner, finishing in 14th place with a time of 29:13.

The Spartans are back in action on October 20, when they travel to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to compete in the RPI Invitational. The men's race goes off first at 1:00 pm with the women following at 2:00.
