Ramapo defeats Castleton 3-1

Castleton, VT-Ramapo received a pair of goals from Devin Flynn (Mullica Hill, NJ/Kingsway Regional) to lead the Roadrunners past Castleton.

Flynn opened up the scoring in the first half with a goal at the 15:34 mark off an Ashley Zimmerman (North Plainfield, NJ/ North Plainfield) assist. The score stood at 1-0 at halftime, and Ramapo would add on a pair of goals after intermission to put the game out of reach. Kelly Nolan (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) scored her first goal of the season, assisted by Sara Weimer (Atlantic Highland, NJ/Henry Hudson Regional) eight minutes into the second half. Flynn would tack on an insurance goal after a penalty corner two minutes later, assisted by Jacquelyn Garofalo (Middletwon, NJ/Middletown North). Castleton’s lone goal came from Carolyn Griggs (Lincoln, VT/Mt. Abraham Union) assisted by freshman Jamie Winter (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) with 15 minutes to play.

The Roadrunners received a solid effort out of goalie, Jenna Fenninello (Clrak, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) who stopped three shots in the win. With the win Ramapo improves to 2-1 and will play host to Manhattanville on Wednesday, September 13 at 4:00 PM. Castleton’s Jessica Viens (Waterbury, VT/Harwood Union) had a big day stopping 14 shots in the loss. The Spartans fall to 1-3 on the season and are back in action on Saturday, September 16 when they travel to North Atlantic Conference foe, Becker College for a 12:00 PM game. [Box Score]
