Castleton shuts-out Wheelock 4-0 in North Atlantic Conference action

Fair Haven, VT-After changing fields due to unplayable conditions at Castleton, the Spartans got acclimated to Fair Haven High School’s field very quickly as Marie Amaral (Barre, VT) scored her fifth goal of the season just 2:48 into the first half assisted by Molly Fraher (Goshen, CT). Castleton would tack on three more goals by three different players to cruise to victory.

After Amaral’s game winner, Castleton was kept at bay until the 20 th minute when Meghan Konowich (Canastota, NY) sent home Fraher’s second assist of the game to make it 2-0. Carolyn Griggs (Lincoln, VT) would tally her 12 th goal of the season eight minutes before halftime to give the Spartans a 3-0 edge. In the second half Castleton once again held the advantage but Lauren Tavares (Burlington, MA) had seven second half saves and gave up just one goal to Tricia Watson (Patterson, NY). For the game Castleton out-shot the Wildcats 23-6 and held a 14-4 edge in penalty corners.

Trisha Clark (East Dover, VT) made four saves in her second shut-out of the season, while Tavares finished the day with 10.
