A 1987 graduate of Ursinus College with a Bachelors of Arts in Economics, Alercio has spent the past 15 seasons at The College of New Jersey. While at TCNJ, Alercio was most recently the Offensive Coordinator and Athletic Development Assistant. His duties included creating the offensive playbook, game planning and play calling, as well as structuring all recruiting programs and generating fund raising for both football and the department of athletics.
Prior to The College of New Jersey, Alercio served as the offensive line coach from 1991 to 1992 at East Stroudsburg University, where he contributed to a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championship and a spot in the NCAA Division II playoffs.
Alercio earned his Master of Science in Administration from West Chester University, while serving as an assistant coach and director of intramurals from 1989 to 1991.
At Castleton Alercio will be charged with starting the football program from the ground up, with the team’s first game slated for the 2009 season. His official start date will be July 1, 2008, but he will be involved in the hiring of a full-time assistant coach, along with the planning of the new Spartan Stadium, home of Castleton football. The stadium, part of the $25.7 million Student Initiative which was announced in October, is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2009. In addition to the stadium Glenbrook Gymnasium will be remodeled and receive a 24,000 square foot addition which will house new team rooms, a varsity weight training facility, athletic training facility and office space
Along with 21 years of coaching experience, Alercio brings his wife and three sons to the Castleton community. |
