Castleton falls 3-1 to Williams

Rutland, VT-The Castleton State College men's ice hockey team struggled to find a rhythm as the Spartans fell behind early and could not recover in a 3-1 loss to Williams College. Eph goalie Marc Pulde made 32 saves and improved his record to 4-3-1 on the season.

Brian Malchoff put Williams on top with a top shelf goal on the man advantage in the first period. The Ephs found the net twice in the second period to go up 3-0. Andrew Lepore capitalized off a Spartan turnover beating Jay Seals high, for a 2-0 lead. Brandon Jackmuff scored the third Williams goal on a breakaway from a great lead pass from Steve Bruch for the Ephs' second power-play goal of the game. Castleton found the back of the net with under one minute remaining in the second period thanks to a Matt Link slap shot with the Spartans on the power play to round out the scoring.

Seals stopped 28 shots for the Spartans in the loss. Seals is looking for his first win of the season as his record goes to 0-4-1.

Castleton falls to a record of 3-9-1 (1-5-1). The Spartans return to play Friday, January 18 when they travel to Connecticut College for a 7:00 pm start. Williams College improves to 5-5-1 (3-2-1) with the victory. Williams hosts Middlebury Tuesday, January 15 in a NESCAC match-up. [Box Score]
