Castleton battles Maine Maritime to a 1-1 draw

Castine, ME- Castleton out-shot Maine Maritime 23-13 but was held at bay by Josh Heath and Brian Nason who combined for eight saves on the day.

Jesse Brown (Ledyard, CT/Ledyard) opened the scoring in the 24th minute when he converted a penalty kick. Alan Alexander evened the score at one when he put home his third goal of teh season in the 40th minute. Both teams had opportunities at a game winner, but battled through 70 minutes of scoreless soccer, preserving the tie.

The Spartans go to 5-5-1 (2-1-1 NAC) while Maine Maritime remains winless at 0-7-2 (0-2-1). Castleton is back in action on Sunday at Husson College for a 3:00 PM NAC match. [Box Score]
