Castleton wins NAC opener, 8-1 over Johnson State

Rutland, VT-The Castleton State College men's tennis team opened their North Atlantic Conference season with an 8-1 win over Johnson State College. Castleton swept the singles competitions and dropped the #1 doubles to earn the 8-1 victory at home.

Robbie Gray dropped his opening set 4-6 before rallying to take the #1 singles match with 6-3, 6-1 wins in the final two sets. Jessee Maranda also had to battle back after dropping his first set in #2 singles action. Maranda fell 6-7 (6-8), but defeated Dylan Louko 6-4, 7-6 (9-7) to earn the win. Ted Panasci, Jeremy Henderson, Ed Kolnaski, and Jamie Cook rounded out the singles wins with relative ease.

Castleton improves to 2-1 (1-0 NAC) on the season and is back in action on March 28 when they play host to Lyndon State at 4:00 pm. [Results]
