Castleton wins final tune-up before championships, 5-4

Johnson, VT -In the team's final tune-up before the conference championships, Castleton defeated Johnson State 5-4 in non-league action.

The Spartans split the singles competitions, losing #1, #3 and #4 while winning #2, #5 and #6, then took two out of three in doubles competition to earn their seventh win of the season.

Jessee Maranda capped off an impressive sophomore season with yet another win in the #2 slot. Maranda has been virtually unbeatable at #2, earning an 8-1 record. Eddie Kolnaski and Jamie Cook continue to provide depth for Castleton at #5 and #6, earning wins that effectively gave the team the overall victory. On the season Cook is 5-0 playing in the sixth spot while Kolnaski is 6-0 at #5.

In doubles action Ted Panasci teamed with Kolnaski for their fourth victory of the season, while Maranda and Jeremy Henderson teamed to win the #3 doubles. The Maranda/Henderson duo is 5-0 playing #3 doubles, and 7-2 overall.

Castleton will travel to Becker College for the North Atlantic Conference Championships held Saturday and Sunday, April 21st and 22nd. [Results]
