Castleton bounces back with 6-3 win over Johnson State
Rutland, VT-In the closest match of the season, Castleton State College prevailed with a 6-3 win over Johnson State at Grand Slam Tennis in Rutland.
The two teams split singles competition, but the Spartans rallied to sweep all three doubles matches and earn the victory.
Dan Hodgetts took home #1 singles with a gritty 7-5, 5-7, 6-1 win. Justin Garritt battled back after falling the first set for a 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 win in #3 singles. Jeremy Henderson cruised in #4 singles 6-0, 6-4.
In doubles action Henderson teamed with Jessee Maranda for a 9-7 win in the #1 slot. Jamie Cook and Garritt took home #2 honors (8-5), while Ted Panasci and Dan Piliero battled to a 9-7 win in the #3 slot.
Castleton improves to 3-2 with the win and will travel to Sugarbush Resort in Warren, Vt for a non-conference match with Lyndon State Sunday afternoon. [Results]
