Castleton wins NAC opener 5-4 over Johnson State
Johnson, VT-The Castleton State College men's tennis team opened its conference schedule with a closely contested 5-4 win over Johnson State.
After dropping the #1 and #2 singles in three-set matches, the Spartans rallied to take the next three singles matches and seal the win. Justin Garritt took #3 singles in straight-sets 6-2, 6-2 and Jeremy Henderson rallied after dropping the first set to a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. Ted Panasci sealed the win with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 win in #5 singles.
In doubles action Henderson teamed with Jessee Maranda for an 8-6 win in the #1 slot, while Garritt and Panasci took home #2 doubles 8-2.
The Spartans improve to 5-3 overall and are 1-0 in conference action. Castleton is back in action Saturday at Becker College for a 1:00 pm conference match. [Results]
