Castleton opens season with 9-0 win over Lyndon State
Rutland, VT-The Castleton State College men's tennis team began 2008 right where they left off in 2007 with a convincing 9-0 win over Lyndon State. The two-time defending North Atlantic Conference champions did not drop a set in the one-sided win.
Dan Hodgetts took home #1 singles with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Lyndon State's John Kennedy. Jessee Maranda, Justin Garritt, Jeremy Henderson, Jamie Cook, and Ted Panasci followed suit with straight-set victories in slots 2-6.
In doubles action Maranda and Henderson teamed up to take the #1 flight 8-3, while Panasci and Ed Kolnaski won #2, and Cook and Dan Piliero won #3.
The Spartans return to action on March 15 when they travel to Thomas College for a 1:00 pm non-conference macth-up with the Terriers. [Results]
