(February 11, 2008) - Andrew Benson of Tufts University and Boston University's Mollie Zapata were both named ECSC Thompson Division Skier of the Year for their first place finishes in the overall ECSC Thompson Division individual standings for the men and women respectively.
Benson won the award, as he claimed five victories during the season and placed no worse than fourth in ten races during the 2008 campaign. For Benson, this marks the third year that he has won the award. Benson's closes rival was Castleton State College's William Richard Colt (pictured right), who finished second in the overall standings. Colt won four Thompson Division races and placed second on three occasions. Colt's teammate, Gregory Towle placed third in the overall standings, as he consistently finished in the top-15 all season, included a first place result in the final competition of the year.
Zapata, winner of seven races during the season, placed first overall for the second consecutive year. In the remaining three races, Zapata finished in second place. Zapata's teammate, Teagan Lukacs, finished in the runner-up position in the overall standings, as she finished on the podium in nine of ten races, inculded one victory on the season. Nicole Fontaine of Tufts University also earned one win during the season, as she placed third in the overall standings. Fontaine finished no worse than fifth in the nine races that she finished.
 In its first season in the ECSC Thompson Division, Castleton State College earned the most representation on the ECSC All-Thompson Division Team, as the Spartans placed five men and three women (Including Heather Patterson, pictured left) on the list.
Tufts University and Boston University each had three skiers earn honors, Tufts with two men and one female and Boston with one male and two females.
