Castleton Picked Second in NAC Preseason Poll

(February 20, 2008) - Four-time defending champion Mount Ida College has been chosen as the NAC preseason favorite of the North Atlantic Conference in a vote conducted by the league’s coaches. The Mustangs received seven first place votes and 63 total points.

Mount Ida, which has yet to lose a conference game in four seasons, returns eight starters including three first team all-conference selections from a season ago, attackers Brett Conley and Leo Shidler as well as midfielder John Lightbown.

Castleton was picked second after finishing 6-1 in league play for the second consecutive season. The Spartans, who received one first place vote and 57 points overall, return seven starters anchored on defense by second team all-conference selection James VanDerKar and junior goalkeeper Mike Mamunes.
