Three members of the Castleton State College men’s ski team earned national honors at the USCSA National Championships this past week in Sunday River, Maine. Freshman, William Richard Colt (Hanover, NH) and junior, Justin Schwartz (Bondville, VT) were both named to the USCSA All-American Team for their performances in the two-day event. Freshman, Robert Moss (Bray, CO; Wicklow, Ireland) earned USCSA Academic All-American honors, for his prowess on the slopes and in the classroom.
Colt placed sixth out of 113 competitors in the National Slalom Championships to earn his spot on the All-American squad, while Schwartz turned in a 20th place performance in the Giant Slalom to earn the honor.
The Spartans placed 5th overall at the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships, earning a spot in the national championships, and along with it, the right to compete as one of the top-20 teams in the country. Castleton placed 8th in the giant slalom competition and 9th in the slalom, for a combined finish of 8th place overall.
