Stone Steps Down After Serving One Season

(March 6, 2008) - Greg Stone, head coach of the Castleton State College women’s ice hockey team, has resigned to make way for a full-time position to be added. Stone had agreed to take the reins of the Spartans until the college could create a full-time opportunity. Stone will continue his duties as coach, including recruiting, until his replacement is hired.

During his one season Stone piloted the Spartans to a 5-16-4 overall record, and a berth in the ECAC East Tournament. Castleton earned 12 points (4 wins, 4 ties) in ECAC East play, the most-ever in its five-year existence.

Stone will retain his duties as Dean of Students at Castleton.
