Castleton Picked Second in NAC Preseason Poll

(September 12, 2007) - Defending NAC Champion Husson College was chosen as the league’s early favorite in a poll by the conference coaches. The Eagles, who collected six first place votes and 109 points, will start the year without 2006 Player of the Year Shelby Bradford who had surgery on her foot. Husson return 4 starters led by Samantha Homer who was a 2nd team All NAC selection in 2006.

Four other teams received at least one first place vote. Castleton, 7-4-1 a season ago in conference competition, finished second in the coaches poll with 98 points and two first place votes. The Spartans will be led by senior forward Tracy Stala. Maine-Farmington, tournament runners up last season, returns seven starters including NAC First Team defender Amanda Byrne. Elms, who tied with Husson for the leagues best regular season mark in 2006, also returns seven starters. Maine Maritime also received a first place vote.
