(October 11, 2008) - Rutland, VT-Husson University won its third-consecutive North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men’s Golf Championship, scoring 312 during round two for a two-day total of 631 (319, 312) at the Rutland Country Club. Host Castleton State College finished second with a two-day total of 644 (320, 324).
Castleton’s Michael Krahn fired a two-day total of 155 (78,77) to earn medalist honors for the tournament. Husson played consistently throughout the tournament, taking four of the next five positions in the tournament. Husson’s Chris Hamel finished one stroke behind Krahn at 156 (80, 76), while teammates Ben Estabrook and Kevin Byrne followed with 157 (80, 77) and 158 (80, 78) respectively. Eric Slosek rounded out the top-five for Castleton with a 159 (81, 78) and Husson’s John Ellis (79, 81) finished sixth.
University of Maine-Farmington rebounded after a tough first round to finish third at 664 (345, 319). Andy Farrell was a big part of Farmington’s success, carding a tournament-low 73 on day two. Farrell finished tied for seventh place at 181 for the tournament with Castleton’s Alex Moore (80, 81).
Maine Maritime Academy took home fourth place at 695 (342, 353) just edging out Thomas College’s 699 (348, 351). Green Mountain College rounded out the field of six with a 912 (458, 454).
