#2 Castleton Upset in Semifinals by #3 Husson

(October 30, 2007) - Castleton, VT-The second-seeded Castleton State College field hockey NACteam was upset by number three seed, Husson College 3-1 in North Atlantic Conference semifinal action. The loss drops Castleton to 12-6 on the season while Husson improves to 12-4.

The Spartans came out seeming destined to take control of the game scoring just 1:32 in as Trishia Fellows scored her third goal of the season. Husson would score three unanswered however and punch its ticket to the NAC Finals.

Courtney Allen tallied her fourth goal of the year with 21:27 remaining in the half off an Erin Nason assist to knot the game at 1-1.

The game would remain tied until Elisha Dorso showed off her speed with 32:24 remaining in the game. Dorso took a pass at midfield and sreaked down the right sideline, beating the Castleton defense and eventually Spartan keeper, Trisha Clark for the game winner.

Nason would tack on an insurance goal with 17 minutes remaining off a Dorso assist to put the game out of reach.

Castleton would have its chances but Kelly Bocchino stopped all five shots that came her way after the first goal in earning the win. Clark finished the game with a pair of saves.

The Eagles will take on top-seed U. Maine Farmington (by virtue of a 2-0 win over Lasell in the other semifinal) in Farmington on Saturday, November 3 game time to be determined. [Box Score]
