(November 8, 2008) - Bangor, ME -The second-seeded Castleton State College men’s soccer team won its second-straight NAC Championship and fourth in six seasons, defeating top-seed Husson University in penalty kicks after playing to a 1-1 draw.

The game featured plenty of back-and-forth action for 110 minutes of well played soccer. Both teams had chances go by the wayside as the firt half ended in a scoreless tie.

Castleton was able to strike first as Greg Klopfer sent home a TJ Mazza assist in the 49th minute of play. Mazza served a pass into the center of the box and klopfer was able to head it past Husson goalie, Miguel Dominguez. The Eagles turned up the offensive pressure during the second half, and Castleton was able to answer as tournament Most Vauable Player, Mike Anthony collected three second half saves. During the 80th minute Husson was able to break through for the equalizer as feshman Josh Labonte was able to sneak one past Anthony.

After a pair of scoreless, 10-minute sudden victory overtimes, Castleton was able to convert during the penalty kick round.

Castleton converted on all five of its penalty kicks; Ryan Hahn, Corey Robbins, TJ Mazza, Jason Potter, and Klopfer all converted their attempts. Anthony was able to make turn away an attempt by Husson's Nathan Carter to earn the win and advance to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Anthony finished with seven saves, while Dominguez stopped four in the loss. Castleton's record goes to 11-8-1, while Husson wraps up its season at 10-6-1. [Box Score]
