| Castleton Picked 5th in NAC Preseason Poll |
(November 12, 2007)-Three-time defending champion Elms College has been chosen as the men’s basketball preseason favorite of the North Atlantic Conference in a vote conducted by the league’s coaches. The Blazers received eight first place votes and a total of 98 points in the NAC men’s basketball preseason poll. Elms returns nine members of a squad which posted a 12-3 mark in conference play and were 20-9 overall. Leading Elms will be senior forward Nate Hawes and sophomore guard Juan Galdon who picked up NAC tournament MVP honors at last year’s championship.
Husson College, which went undefeated in league play a season ago, finished second with 86 points. The Eagles will need to replace three big weapons with all-conference performers Tyler Muzzy, Jason Harvey, and Martin Cleveland gone from last year’s squad. Lesley, who placed third in the poll, received one first place vote and 81 points. The Lynx will be led by senior guard and first-team all-conference selection Joe Chatman. The University of Maine-Farmington, who returns four starters, received 74 points and one first place vote.
