Castleton competes in USCSA Thompson Division Slalom
Lyme, NH-Women:
After finishing fifth in the team standings in Saturday's slalom, the Castleton women's ski team bounced back to win Sunday's slalom event. The Spartans were led by Nicole Kondziela (Bath, PA/Northampton) and her sixth place finish. Heather Patterson (Stockton, CA/Lincoln) and Lindsey Wiken (Hampden, ME/Hampden Academy), both freshmen, finished the team scoring in eighth and 11th, respectively. Boston University's Mollie Zapata won the race to lead her team to a third place finish, while Tufts University finished second.

Men: The Castleton men's ski team were shorthanded today at the Dartmouth Skiway, but still managed to finish third out of 11 teams while competing as a guest team in an ECSC Thompson Division slalom. The Spartans entered the race without two of their top five slalom skiers. Justin Schwartz (Bondville, VT/Burr and Burton) earned Castleton's lone podium of the weekend by finishing in third place out of 95 racers. For the second day in a row, Evan Vomacka (Belmont, NH/Bishop Brady) scored for the Spartans with an 11th place finish. Teddy Panasci (Wamogo, CT/Wamogo Regional) place 16th. WPI's Brent Shannon finished first in the race to pace his team to victory, while Green Mountain College finished second on the day.
The Spartans are home next weekend for the ECSC McBrine Division Finals at Pico, where they hope to complete the season undefeated in both the men's and women's team standings.
