Castleton women finish 11th, men 12th in USCSA Regional Championships

Waterville, ME -Women: Day two of the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships saw the Spartans earn their best result in their three years of competition at the event with an 11th place team finish amongst 17 teams.  Freshman Heather Patterson (Stockton, CA / Lincoln) finished 40th out of 90 women, while senior Nicole Kondziela (Bath, PA / Northampton) followed close behind in 43rd.  Brenna Nolan (Pittsford, VT / Otter Valley) and Lindsey Wiken (Hampden, ME / Hampden Academy) also finished in top-50 in 46th and 48th, respectively.  Brown University's Kelly O'Hear won her second race in as many days to lead hear team to a second place finish.  Montana Molyneux and Lauren D'Allessandro finished second and third to guide the Colby-Sawyer women to a first place result.

Men: The Castleton men's ski team finished 12th in today's giant slalom event at the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships, one spot better than last year's 13th place result.  The Spartans were led by freshman Greg Towle (Coventry , RI / Bishop Hendricken), who finished 39th out of 90 racers.  Sophomore Jeff Giegler (Danbury, CT / Danbury) finished 47th, while Tim Rogers (Wilbraham, MA / Minnachaug) finished the team scoring in 53rd.  Travis Plass, Ryan Dunstan and Chance Longley completed a podium sweep of the competition to guide the Colby-Sawyer men to a first place team finish.  Boston College and the University of Massachusetts finished second and third, respectively.
