Castleton men win third-straight race, sweep podium
Women:
The Castleton State College women skiers finished second to Boston University in an eleven team ECSC Thompson Division slalom at Bromley Mountain Resort. Boston University's Mollie Zapata won the race with a two-run time of 1:18.81, while her teammate, Teagan Lukacs, finished second at 1:20.12. Marina Vornle of Holy Cross College finished third with a time of 1:20.57.
For the Spartans, Brenna Nolan (Pittsford, VT) finished sixth out of 73 racers. Nolan's teammates Heather Patterson (Stockton, CA) and Stephanie Kopko (Perkiomenville, PA) completed the team scoring for Castleton by placing eighth and tenth. Kelsey White (Traverse City, MI) and Kaileen Balzano (Johnstown, NY) cracked the top-15 with 13th and 15th place finishes.
Castleton's total team time of 252.89 placed them second in the team standings behind Boston University's time of 245.35. Tufts University (275.59), Northeastern University (276.26) and Trinity College (278.71) placed third, fourth and fifth.

Men:
The Castleton State College men's ski team swept the podium on way to a team victory at today's ECSC Thompson Division slalom event at Bromley Mountain Resort. William Colt (Hanover, NH), fourth after the morning leg of the race, clocked the fastest second run of the day to propel himself into first place overall in the event to lead the Spartans to victory. Colt's total two run time was 1:10.45. Castleton's Charles Robbins (Mendon, VT) finished second at 1:11.23, while Justin Schwartz (Bondville, VT) finished close behind with the bronze at 1:11.35.
Gregory Towle (Coventry, RI) and Brian Harvey (Katskill Bay, NY) started at the back of the start order, but still managed to place fifth and seventh out of 102 skiers for the Spartans.
Castleton's total team time of 213.03 beat out runner-up Worcester Polytechnic Institute's time of 233.04. Boston University finished third at 239.85, while Tufts University placed fourth at 246.34.
The Spartan men and women race again tomorrow in another ECSC Thompson Division slalom event at Bromley.
