Women:

 

The Castleton State College women's ski team finished second out of 11 teams in today's giant slalom race in ECSC Thompson Division action at the Dartmouth Skiway.  As they have for most of the season, Boston University's Teagan Lukacs and Mollie Zapata took the top two spots in the race on way to their fifth consecutive team title.  Lukacs' total two-run time of 2:23.48 was the best on the day, while Zapata's time of 2:23.84 was good enough for second.  Tufts University's Nicole Fontaine rounded out the podium with a time of 2:25.39.  Castleton's Heather Patterson (Stockton, CA) finished fourth at 2:27.53 for the second-place Spartans.  Freshman Madalyn Kirbach (Mendon, VT) posted a season best sixth place result with a time of 2:29.74.  Finishing seventh for the Spartans was sophomore Brenna Nolan (Pittsford, VT) at 2:30.04.  Freshman Stephanie Kopko (Perkiomenville, PA) was close behind Nolan at 2:30.64 for eighth place.  Ellen Noordzy (Exeter, RI), 14th after the morning leg of the competition, clocked the sixth-fastest second run time to place 11th overall for her best result of the season.  The Spartans finished the race with a total team time of 447.31 for second place, while Boston University placed first with a time of 442.72.  Green Mountain College finished third at 462.63 and Northeastern University placed fourth at 475.73.

Men:

 

The Castleton State College men's ski team won for the fifth consecutive race in ECSC Thompson Division competition at the Dartmouth Skiway today.  Castleton's total team time of 394.17 beat out Tufts University and nine other teams.  Tufts University's time of 407.56 placed the Jumbos in second, as Boston University finished third at 411.38.  Green Mountain College (416.70) and Connecticut College (423.84) finished fourth and fifth.  Andrew Benson of Tufts University set the pace for the men and claimed the victory at 2:09.09.  William Richard Colt (Hanover, NH) finished second in the race with a total two run time of 2:10.42 for the Spartans.  On Colt's heals was teammate Justin Schwartz (Bondville, VT) who earned the bronze at 2:10.49.  Freshman Corbin Daino (Hagaman, NY) finished the team scoring for the Spartans with a fourth place finish at 2:13.26.  Greg Towle (Coventry, RI) finished seventh for Castleton, while freshman Rob Moss (Bray, Co Wicklow, Ireland) placed tenth.  Another freshman, Crescent Remaniak (Middlebury, VT), started towards the back of the start order and powered his way through ruts and ice to place 14th out of 108 racers after posting the eighth-fastest second run.
