In their first season in the ECSC Thompson Division, the Castleton State College women's ski team clinched a birth to the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships with a second place result in today's giant slalom competition at the Dartmouth Skiway. The Spartans were led by Heather Patterson (Stockton, CA), Madalyn Kirbach (Mendon, VT) and Brenna Nolan (Pittsford, VT) who finished sixth, seventh and eighth out of 73 competitors on way to a total team time of 454.90. Boston University's Mollie Zapata finished first with a total two-run time of 2:23.50, as her team clocked a team time of 446.46 for the win. Patterson's time was 2:30.84, while Kirbach and Nolan posted times of 2:31.23 and 2:32.83. Tufts University's Nicole Fontaine finished second at 2:24.17 and Teagan Lukacs of Boston University finished with a time of 2:25.08. Northeastern University placed third overall with a time of 459.92, while Green Mountain College finished at 472.16. Castleton's Stephanie Kopko (Perkiomenville, PA) checked in at 11th for her eighth consecutive top-11 finish.
After eight ECSC Thompson Division races, the lady Spartans are in second place in the division with 16 points, while Boston University leads with 12 points. Northeastern University (26 points) and Green Mountain College (33 points) are third and fourth out of 11 teams. Individually, Mollie Zapata and Teagan Lukacs, both from Boston University, are first and second with 118 and 108 points. Tufts University's Nicole Fontaine is third with 86 points. For the Spartans, Heather Patterson is fifth with 68 points, while Stephanie Kopko and Brenna Nolan are seventh and ninth with 56 and 44 points. Madalyn Kirbach currently sits just outside the top-10, as she is 11th with 42 points. With 24 points, Kelsey White (Traverse City, MI) is 16th. Kaileen Balzano (Johnstown, NY) has 6 points to put her in 19th. Ellen Noordzy (Exeter, RI) and Lindsey Wiken (Hampden, ME) are tied for 20th with 5 points each.

The Castleton State College men's ski team remain undefeated in giant slalom action, as they raced their way to their sixth consecutive team victory in ECSC Thompson Division competition in today's race at the Dartmouth Skiway. The team win secures a USCSA Eastern Regional Championship birth for the Spartans. Castleton finished with a total team time of 390.20, as Tufts University finished in the runner-up spot at 396.89. Green Mountain College finished third at 411.57, while Northeastern University (426.48) and Connecticut College (429.22) placed fourth and fifth out of 11 teams. Individually, Andrew Benson of Tufts University won his fifth race of the season with a two-run time of 2:08.35. Benson was closely followed by William Richard Colt (Hanover, NH) who finished second for the Spartans with a time of 2:08.57. The result gives Colt his fifth podium finish of the season. Freshman Corbin Daino (Hagaman, NY) earned his first collegiate podium, as he finished third with a time of 2:10.27. Gregory Towle (Coventry, RI) checked in at fifth with a time of 2:11.36. Crescent Remaniak (Middlebury, VT) posted his best result of the season, as he placed eighth, while Charles Robbins (Mendon, VT) finished ninth for the Spartans. Robert Moss (Bray, Co Wicklow, Ireland) and Brian Harvey (Kattskill Bay, NY) finished 12th and 14th out of 105 racers.
After eight ECSC Thompson Division races, the Spartan men lead the division standings with 10 points. Tufts University is second with 20 points, while Boston University is third with 30 points. Worcester Polytechnic Institute (34 points) is fourth and Green Mountain College (38 points) is fifth. Individually, Andrew Benson remains on top of the leaderboard with 115 points, but is followed by five Castleton Spartans. William Richard Colt sits in second place with 90 points, while Gregory Towle is third at 74 points. Justin Schwartz (Bondville, VT) and Charles Robbins are tied for fourth with 70 points, while Corbin Daino is sixth with 61 points. Robert Moss (28 points) and Brian Harvey (25 points) are 13th and 14th. After sitting out the last three races due to injury, Bartholomew Kallgren (Burnham, ME) moves down the list to 16th with 23 points. Crescent Remaniak is 23rd with 10 points, while Justin Garritt (Swan Lake, NY) is 26th with 2 points.
