Women:
Day two of the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships saw the Castleton women's ski team earning an eighth place result out of 13 teams. The eight place result, combined with yesterday's sixth place finish puts the Spartans in a tie for seventh place overall with the University of Maine, Orono. The team result is the best-ever result for the two-day event at the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships for the women. Their previous best result came last year when they placed 11th overall. The Spartans were led by Brenna Nolan (Pittsford, VT) and Madalyn Kirbach (Mendon, VT), who finished 27th and 28th out of 70 athletes. Stephanie Kopko (Perkiomenville, PA) completed the scoring for Castleton with a 37th place. Victoria Canelas of Colby-Sawyer College placed first, while Eliza Hawkins of University of Massachusetts, Amherst finished second. Earning the bronze was Krista Consiglio of Brown University. Colby-Sawyer College won the giant slalom event and were followed by the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (2nd), Boston College (3rd), Brown University (4th), Plymouth State University (5th), Boston University (6th) and University of Maine, Orono (7th). Behind Castleton (8th) were Northeastern University (9th), Green Mountain College (10th), Springfield College (11th), Marist College (12th) and Brandeis University (13th).

Men:
The Castleton State College men's ski team capitalized on Boston College's lack of finishers in Sunday's giant slalom at the USCSA Eastern Regional Championships to wrap up a fifth place overall team result and their first-ever birth to the USCSA National Championships.
The Spartans finished today's giant slalom event in fifth place overall behind Plymouth State University (1st), University of Massachusetts, Amherst (2nd), Colby-Sawyer College (3rd) and Babson College (4th). Castleton found themselves ahead of Tufts University (6th), Worcester Polytechnic Institute (7th), Boston College (8th), Yale University (9th), University of Maine, Farming (10th), Boston University (11th), Marist College (12th) and University of Rhode Island (13th) in the team standings. For the second consecutive day, freshman William Richard Colt (Hanover, NH) led the Spartans, as he finished fifth out of 70 racers. Junior Justin Schwartz (Bondville, VT) and sophomore Gregory Towle (Coventry, RI) laid down excellent second runs to move up in the standing to 19th and 25th, as they completed the team scoring for Castleton. Sophomore Charles Robbins placed 27th, while Corbin Daino (Hagaman, NY) finished 35th. The Spartans were 2.18 second off of fourth place and 4.69 out of third.
With the fifth place overall weekend result, the Spartan men advance to the USCSA National Championships at Sunday River, ME on March 3-9.
