Women:
The Castleton State College Women's ski team missed earning a bid to the USCSA National Championships by two spots, as they tied for seventh place overall out of 13 teams in the two-day event. For the Spartans, the result marks their best ever finish at the regional competition. Castleton's Heather Patterson (Stockton, CA) and Brenna Nolan (Pittsford, VT) tied for 31st place over the span of the two-day event. Patterson was 23rd in the slalom, while Nolan was 29th in slalom and 27th in giant slalom. Freshman Madalyn Kirback (Mendon, VT) placed 35th out of over 70 athletes who competed over the weekend. Kirback placed 28th in the giant slalom. Colby-Sawyer College, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Boston College, Plymouth State University and Brown University advance to the USCSA National Championships at Sunday River, ME.

Men:
In only their fifth year of existence in the USCSA, the Castleton State College ski team earned it's first-ever bid to the USCSA National Championships with a fifth place performance of the weekend long USCSA Eastern Regional Championships. Castleton's William Richard Colt (Hanover, NH) finished sixth in the slalom event and fifth in the giant slalom to earn fifth place in the overall combined standings. Justin Schwartz (Bondville, VT) placed 18th overall, as he finished 17th in the slalom and 19th in the giant slalom. Gregory Towle's (Coventry, RI) 17th in slalom and 25th in giant slalom earned himself a combined place of 23rd out of over 70 competitors during the weekend event. Charles Robbins (Mendon, VT) placed 27th combined, as he was 22nd in slalom and 27th in giant slalom.
The Spartans will compete next at the USCSA National Championships at Sunday River, ME. The men's giant slalom is slated for Thursday, March 6th, while the slalom event will take place on Saturday, March 8th. Along with the Spartans, the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Plymouth State University, Colby-Sawyer College and Babson College also advance to the national championships.
