Castleton swept by defending NAC champions, 3-0, 10-1

Chicopee, MA -Castleton fell to 0-4 on the young season, dropping a twinbill to defending NAC champion, Elms College 3-0 and 10-2.

Elms received a complete game shut-out from Tammy Tremblay, who struck out seven in the win. Tremblay also provided all of the offensive pop the blazers would need, with a 3-run double in the first inning.

After her first-inning struggles, Castleton starter, Angie Carpenter would settle down and allow just four hits over her final six innings of work, striking out three in the loss.

Freshman, Alicia Zraunig knocked a pair of hits, but Castleton couldn't put any offense together as Tremblay was too tough.

In game two the Spartans committed six errors, which led to four unearned runs to aid Elms College in a 10-1 mercy-rule win. Freshman hurler, Alyssa Skewes struck out eight on her way to her second win of the season for the Blzaers.

Meg Robitaille took the loss, allowing ten hits and ten runs in her five innings of work.

Alicia Zraunig singled in the first, and after being moved over by Allison Lamay, was singled home by Carley Amedore to provide Castleton's lone run.

Castleton falls to 0-4 (0-2 NAC) with the loss, and is back in action tomorrow when they take on Becker College. [Game One Box Score] [Game Two Box Score]
