Castleton sweep Lesley, 3-1 and 12-7

Cambridge, MA-The Castleton State College softball team swept a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader at Lesley University, winning the opener 3-1, and taking game two 12-7.

In the opener Laura Rogers tossed a complete-game four-hitter to earn the win. The junior righthander struck out four and allowed one earned run. She also went 2 for 3 at the plate, scoring one run.

"Bibit" Marion and Alicia Zraunig each stroked a pair of singles for the Spartans.

In the nightcap, Castleton fell behind 3-0 after two innings, but exploded for eight runs in the top of the third to take the lead. The Spartans would plate three more in the fifth and one in the sixth to come away with the win.

Angie Carpenter tossed the complete-game win, allowing 10 hits and seven earned runs while strikng out three.

Rachel Hunt had a huge game, going 4 for 5 with two runs scored. Carley Amedore went 3 for 5 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Alicia Zraunig was 3 for 5 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored. Marion added three hits and one run scored. [Game One Box Score] [Game Two Box Score]
