Castleton runs away on senior day, 68-45 over Elms College

Castleton, VT-The Castleton State College women’s basketball team jumped out to a 37-14 halftime lead and held on for a 68-45 North Atlantic Conference victory in their final home game of the regular season. The Spartans placed four players in double-figures and held the Blazers to 35% shooting form the field en route to their 10th win in their last 11 games.

Senior Jenn Goff paced the 18-7 (14-4 NAC) Spartans with 15 points on 5-7 shooting from the floor and 5-7 from the free throw line. Castleton held a distinct 43-30 edge on the glass, including 16-9 on the offensive end.

Paige Schneider was the only Blazer in double-figures with 13 points. Elms College ends their season at 7-18 overall and 5-13 in North Atlantic Conference play.

Jess Banks added 13 points, while Carley Amedore and Melissa Verill chipped in 12 and 11 respectively. Castleton will return to Glenbrook Gymnasium for a NAC quarterfinal game on Tuesday, opponent and time still to be determined. [Box Score]
