Castleton ends losing skid, defeats Johnson State 76-51.

Castleton, VT-The Castleton State College women’s basketball team took a 37-17 lead into halftime and held on for a 76-51 North Atlantic Conference victory in Glenbrook Gymnasium. Jenn Goff scored 10 of her game-high 17 points in the first half and hauled in 10 rebounds to lead the Spartans to victory.

LeeAnne Ketchen also dropped 17 for the 8-5 (5-2 NAC) Spartans, while Johnson’s Claudia Martineau led the Badgers with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Carley Amedore scored 10 of her 13 points in the second half to round out the Castleton players in double-figures. Jenna Lewis was the only other Badger in double-figures with 12.

Johnson State falls to 6-7 and 4-3 in conference play with the loss. The Spartans return to action this weekend when they travel to Maine to take on conference foes Maine-Farmington on Friday at 5:30 and Thomas College on Saturday at 1:00. Johnson State will also travel to Maine this weekend, tipping off at Thomas on Friday and Maine-Farmington on Saturday. [Box Score]
