Castleton stumbles at Johnson State, 55-38
Johnson, VT-The Castleton State College women's basketball team lost for the first time in their last six games to an inspired Johnson State team 55-38. The Spartans struggled to find their stroke as they netted just 16 first-half points and were held to 26% shooting from the field.
Johnson State nearly doubled up the Spartans on the glass as they won
the battle 49-26 including 20 offensive rebounds.
Freshman Claudia Martineau (Washington, Vt./Spaulding) notched her first
career double-double scoring 19 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to lead
Johnson State (9-11, 7-7 NAC).
Castleton (13-7, 10-4 NAC) received 16 points off the bench from
Mary Nienow (Middlebury, Vt./Middlebury) and senior Jen Goff (Granville,
N.Y./Granville) scored 10 points.
Johnson State will host Lesley University on Friday at 8:00 while Castleton
hosts Bay Path, also on Friday. [Box Score]
