Castleton opens NAC season with win over Wheelock 72-52

Chestnut Hill, MA-Senior forward Jenn Whiting (Granville, NY) poured in 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Castleton to a 72-52 victory over Wheelock in the North Atlantic Conference opener for both teams. Castleton improved to 3-2 on the young season and are now 1-0 in the NAC while Wheelock drops to 0-4, 0-1 NAC with the loss.

Whiting was joined in double figures by sophomore guard Jessica Banks (Milford, CT) who contributed 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists. Senior forward Samantha Cummings (Middleboro, MA) led Wheelock with 15 points. Freshman guard Elise Ordile (Waltham, MA) added 14 points for the home Wildcats.

With the win Castleton improves to 3-2 (1-0 NAC) and will travel to Bay Path for a 1:00 PM tip-off Sunday afternoon. Wheelock falls to 0-4 (0-1) and will host Johnson State at 1:00 also. [Box Score]
