Castleton stretches win streak to five with 17 point win at Becker
Leicester, MA-The Castleton State College women's basketball team won for the fifth-straight game, defeating Becker College 66-49 in North Atlantic Conference action.
Mary Nienow led a trio of Spartans in double-figures with 17 points on 7-12 shooting.
Castleton led 32-28 at halftime, and stifled the Hawks in the second half, allowing just 21 points on 26.3% shooting from the field.
Beth Pion led the 4-6 (0-2 NAC) Hawks with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Kristin Karat added 12.
Melissa Verrill followed Nienow in the scoring column with 14 points on 6-8 shooting and five rebounds. Jess Banks added 10 points, seven assists and five rebounds for the 6-5 (2-0 NAC) Spartans.
Castleton returns to action Saturday, January 12 when they travel to Elms College for a 4:00 pm NAC contest. [Box Score]
