Castleton stretches win-streak to seven games with 62-31 win over Bay Path
Castleton, VT-The Castleton State College women’s basketball team made it seven consecutive wins by doubling up Bay Path College 62-31 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action.
The Spartans have now won 12 out of their last 13 games and lowered their league-best scoring defense to 48 points per game.
Castleton jumped out to a 34-11 halftime lead, as the Spartans held their guests to 18% shooting from the field.
Bay Path’s Jessica Hunt scored a game-high 18 points and hauled in 11 rebounds to lead the 1-15 (0-7 NAC) Wildcats.
Once again Castleton utilized a balanced scoring attack that saw 11 out of 12 players score. Jessica Banks scored a team-high 11 to go along with three assists.
Bay Path will travel to Johnson State for an 11:00 am tip-off Sunday morning, in a game that was postponed from Friday evening.
Castleton improves to 13-6 overall and 9-1 in conference play, with a pivotal weekend on the horizon. The Spartans will travel to Maine to take on Maine Maritime Academy and Husson College next Friday and Saturday. Both Castleton and Maine Maritime have just one loss in conference play, while Husson stands with two. [Box Score]
