Castleton falls to Colby-Sawyer 57-42 on the road

New London, NH-The Castleton State College women's basketball team fell to 1-4 on the young season with a 57-42 non-conference loss at Colby-Sawyer. The Chargers received double-digit efforts from senior Noelle Surette (17) and Terri Duffy (12) to improve to 4-2 on the season.

Castleton jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but the Chargers would close out the period on a 29-6 run as the Spartans struggled to score in the opening half.

The Spartans would look much better offensively in the second frame, out-scoring their hosts 30-28 over the final 20 minutes of play. Freshman, Kristie Dunchus led the Spartans with 10 points and six rebounds off the bench. LeeAnne Ketchen added eight points and seven rebounds, while Jess Banks dished out five assists in the loss.

Colby-Sawyer heads to Brunswick, Maine Thursday December 6th to play the Polar Bears of Bowdoin College at 7:30 pm Castleton heads to Springfield, Mass. to take on Western New England College Friday night December 7th at 7:00 pm. [Box Score]
