Castleton tripped up on the road by Elms College
Chicopee, MA-The Castleton State College women's basketball team saw its five-game win streak stopped by Elms College in a 61-45 North Atlantic Conference loss.
The win marked the first-ever for Elms over Castleton in North Atlantic Conference play. Amanda Brogna led the 5-6 (2-1 NAC) Blazers with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Justine Tokas chipped in 11 off the bench including 7-9 from the charity stripe.
Castleton was led by Jess Banks with 10 points, eight rebounds and three assists, while Melissa Verrill added eight points.
The Spartans struggled offensively, making just 27.7% from the field for the game and shot just 50% (13-26) from the free-throw line. Conversely, Elms shot 53.5% from the field, including a 61% performance in the second half.
Castleton falls to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in conference play with the loss and will play host to Thomas College on Friday, January 18 at 8:00 pm in NAC action. [Box Score]
