Castleton wins eighth-straight, improves to 10-1 in NAC play

Castine, ME-Jessica Banks scored 13 of her game-high 16 points in the second half as Castleton defeated Maine Maritime 45-44 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play.

Banks canned a trio a three-pointers in the second half as Castleton won its eighth-straight game, and 13th out of its last 14 agmes.

The Spartans found themselves tied 22-22 at halftime as the two teams exchanged the lead six times, with neither team leading by five during the first half. In the second half it was more of the same as the lead once again changed hands six times. Castleton held a 45-41 advantage before Kaitlyn Leeman sunk a 35-footer at the buzzer for the final tally.

Laura Cary joined Banks in double-figures, scoring 14 points and hauling in 7 rebounds for the 14-6 (10-1 NAC) Spartans.

Freshman, Tatum Welch led the Mariners with nine points and eight rebounds as Maine Maritime falls to 12-8 overall and 7-2 in conference play.

The Spartans are back in action Saturday at 2:00 pm when they travel to Husson College. [Box Score]
