Castleton goes to 2-0 in the NAC with win over Bay Path

Longmeadow, MA – Senior Brean Farquharson (Westmoreland, NH/Keene) scored a pair of goals to lead the Spartans to their second North Atlantic Conference victory of the season.

Farquharson opened the scoring in the 40th minute, unassisted. Castleton would take a 1-0 lead into halftime, and Farquharson would strike again in the 50th minute to give the Spartans a 2-0 cushion. Tracy Stala (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) pushed home Castleton's third goal of the afternoon at 73:30. With just over a minute remaining Bay Path's Amanda Janik (Agawam, MA/Agawam) spoiled the shut-out with the Wildcats' lone goal.

Kim Allen (Newtown, CT/Newtown) earned the win, stopping 13 shots on goal. Samantha Duffy (Northampton, MA/Northampton) and Samantha Gunseth (Swanzey, NH/Monadnock) combined for 11 saves in the loss. Castleton improves to 2-2-1 (2-0 NAC) on the season, while Bay Path Falls to 1-1-1 (1-1 NAC). Both teams are back in action on Sunday with Castleton traveling to Wheelock for a 12:00 PM game and Bay Path playing host to Johnson State 1:00 PM. [Box Score]
