Eagles shut-out Castleton 2-0

Bangor, ME – Husson recorded their second straight shutout and beat Castleton State 2-0 in NAC play. The Eagles are now 6-3-1 overall and 3-1 in the NAC while Castleton drops to 5-5-2 overall and 4-2-1 in the NAC.

For the first 35 minutes the game was scoreless until Danielle Lorusso (Sandwich, NH) made a hard run down the left side and put a hard shot on goal. Castleton goalie Kim Allen (Newtown, CT) made a good save but Samantha Homer (Charlton, MA) cleaned up the rebound to put Husson up 1-0 with 10 minutes to play in the first half.

Shelby Pickering (Lee, ME) gave Husson an insurance goal with 23 minutes left in the game. Katie Nickerson (Belfast, ME) assisted on the goal. Husson goalie Leah Drew had 4 saves on 7 shots while Allen made 9 saves against 15 shots.

The Eagle defense has only given up one goal in four conference games this season and has 5 shutouts on the season. The back line of Laura Clarke (Bangor, ME), Meredith Homer (Charlton, MA), and Shelby Morissette (Londonderry, NH) continue to play well in front of Drew.

Both team next play on Wednesday, October 4 th, Husson host U. Maine Farmington at 3:00 PM and Castleton State travels to Lyndon State at 3:30 PM. [Box Score]
