Castleton wins third straight game, 2-0 over Lasell

Castleton, VT –Micole Bellimer (Hartland, VT/Windsor) stopped three shots to earn her third consecutive shut-out victory as Castleton won their sixth North Atlantic Conference game of the season. Katie Hoxsie (Cornwall, VT/Middlebury Union) scored a goal and had an assist to lead the Spartans.

Both teams struggled to gain an advantage early in the first half, but it was Castleton’s Erin Hanlon (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls) who struck first with under a minute remaining to give the Spartans a 1-0 halftime lead. Eleven minutes into the second half Hoxsie scored with a header for her first collegiate goal. Sandra Sartelle (Hardwick, VT/Hazen Union) was credited with the assist after she headed it over to her freshman classmate off from a corner kick.

Lasell’s Jamie Remmers (West Islip, NY/West Islip) stopped five shots before leaving late in the second half. With the win Castleton improves to 8-5-2 (6-2-1 NAC) and is back in action tomorrow afternoon when they play host to Mount Ida College at 1:00 PM. The Lasers fall to 2-13 (1-8 NAC) and travel to Johnson State for a 1:00 PM game tomorrow. [Box Score]
