Castleton salvages weekend split with 2-0 shut-out of Thomas College

Castleton, VT – Castleton’s offense converted a pair of goals, and out-shot the Terriers 28-7, while holding a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks to earn the shut-out. Goalie, Kim Allen (Newtown, CT/ Newtown) stopped six shots en route to her second shut-out of the season.

Tracy Stala (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) converted her seventh goal of the season in the 19 th minute of play off from an assist by Sarah Reaber-Spina (Starksboro, VT/Mt. Abraham Union). Casey FitzGerald (Bantam, CT/Litchfield) scored her first goal of the season unassisted in the 82 nd minute to provide Castleton with the isurance goal.

Shannon Proctor (South China, ME/Erskine) stopped eight shots in the loss for Thomas. The Terriers fall to 2-4 (1-2 NAC) and are back in action on Saturday September 30 when they play host to NAC foe, Lasell College at 3:00 PM. With the win Castleton improves to 5-3-1 (4-1 NAC) and play host to Skidmore College on Wednesday, September 29 at 4:00 PM. [Box Score]
