Maine-Farmington completes sweep with overtime win over Castleton
Castleton, VT – With 90 minutes insufficient in deciding the outcome, Castleton State College and U. Maine-Farmington battled it out for nearly 10 more minutes of overtime. With just four seconds remaining in the first overtime, Melissa St. Amand ( Windsor, ME) took advantage of Ashley Tetreault’s ( Spencer, MA) cross, and a vacated goal to score the game winner.
Castleton struck first in the 65 th minute of play when Tracy Stale (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet converted a Brean Farquharson (Westmoreland, NH/Keene) pass for her sixth goal of the year. Less than 30 seconds later the Beavers would score the equalizer as Jackie Mrazik ( Mount Vernon, ME) put home a misplayed ball in the backfield.
Alix Raymond ( West Hartford, CT) stopped four shots to earn the win for the 4-2 (2-0 NAC) Beavers. Kim Allen had seven saves in the loss for the 4-3-1 (1-1 NAC) Spartans. Maine-Farmington travels to Johnson State College tomorrow afternoon for a 3:00 PM NAC tilt. Castleton plays host to NAC foe, Thomas College, also at 3:00 PM. [Box Score]
